BIO
Forming in the fall of 2022, The Fog is a trio consisting of three seasoned musicians. Rick Connery supplies lead vocals and guitar, along with Gary Wilson on the bass and vocals, and Gwen Wilson on accordion and vocals.
Music has been a part of all their lives for many years. All three became involved in music early, and have played in a variety of settings over the years. Rick Connery is originally from Toronto, Gary Wilson, from Woodstock, New Brunswick and Gwen, from Halifax. It took all three moving to Digby and crossing paths, again through music, to result in this trio coming together. While they’ve only been playing in this configuration since 2022, all three are experienced musicians.
They are “A Trio of the Unexpected”. Quite used to playing unplugged in smaller, more intimate venues, they are equally at home on any stage. They present an eclectic mix of music, capturing something from a wide variety of time, type and tempo, which includes their original music as well as a variety of well and lesser known cover tunes. Not quite folk, not quite country, not quite pop, but an unexpected mix of genres.
They continue to work on a growing catalogue of original music. They presently have six originals recorded and released available for your listening pleasure on all your favourite streaming services. They plan to release an EP over the net few months.
Two of their original songs, Still Mine, and Down Slow were featured on the Community Radio CIOE 97.5’s East Coast Top 30 in 2023 and 2024. Both made it into their Hall of Fame after 15 consecutive weeks on the chart and onto the East Coast Top 100 for both 2023 and 2024 at #52, and #57. What's It Worth, released and featured in 2025, also made it into the Hall of Fame and the East Coast Top 100 Songs for 2025, coming in at #54.
In the fall of 2024 they were filmed for an Episode of “Atlantic Notes” on Eastlink Cable 10 Community TV which aired in the 2025 season.
They were lucky enough to play over 60 shows in both 2024 and 2025, up and down the Annapolis Valley and beyond. Highlights from 2025 included performances at the Dooryard Arts Festival, Cove Music Concerts, and headlining Riverfest. The band was also nominated in the Local Band Category in the Community Votes:Annapolis Valley Campaign for 2025, winning the Platinum Award. The Fog was also thrilled to make its Halifax debut in 2025, playing at The Narrows Public House, and are looking forward to a return show there in the spring of 2026.
They can be found just about anywhere between Yarmouth and Windsor, but are always seeking fresh horizons new adventures.
